2Dogmension


A runner game where you need to switch perspectives to be able to survive, made with Brainoid for Alakajam.

The aim was to blend a game that forced the player to choose which 2 dimensions they are viewing / controlling at a given time. When viewing from the side, you could jump; when viewing from the top you could move left and right. You constantly needed to switch between views to get a view of the level and traverse it safely!

In hindsight, the mechanic wasn’t very fun for the player. You were in a state of constantly swapping views, and it became very challenging to complete some of the harder levels we had designed. The tutorialisation was really intrusive with large popups interrupting the flow of the game – which was a valuable lesson to take away from this project.
