Clutteral Damage

A relationship survival simulator, where you attempt to organise your home to keep your demanding partner satisfied. Made solo for LD42.

Clutter Damage was another solo entry for Ludum Dare, where I enjoyed all aspects of the development. I was especially proud of the music made for the game, which was authored in Bosca Ceoel.

The game focused on multi-tasking against the clock, including efficiently unpacking items from boxes, memorising where you stored things and feeding your cat. Based on how well you managed these tasks, your partner would adjust their opinion of you.

You were always under pressure to place items in storage and keep on top of an ever growing collection of possessions. I attempted to add a twist to this by adding a daily event where you had to find one of the items you had stored away, meaning players had to try and either memorise where they stored things – or develop some form of system that made finding things quicker.

There were a bunch of additional features that I had in mind, but they were cut in order to give myself time to wrap up the game. With that said, I was glad I prioritised art and audio for this jam, even if it meant I had to cut features.

A video released shortly after the game was published.

A more-recent let’s play that took part during a charity stream in 2021.
