Avian Photography Society

A relaxed bird-watching game where you snap photographs of “rare” birds. Created solo for Honest Jam 4 (The Pacifist Jam).

This game was my solo entry for the very first Pacifist Jam. My take on avoiding violence was to create a relaxed on-rails photography game. Pokemon Snap was a favourite of mine growing up, and fed into the design of this game. The game included an “in-game camera with focus”, which served as the main mechanic of scoring the photographs taken. The player had to adjust the focus of the camera to ensure the birds were in focus. Extra points were granted based on the pose of the creature when the photo was taken.

I really enjoyed this project. It felt a pretty small scope game with the “on-rails” system, with an excuse to figure out new problems, and some extremely silly looking birds.
